A Perth pub broke into hysterics when US actor and comedian Chris Rock took to the stage for a surprise stand-up performance.
Bar manager Megan Thomas was working at The Charles Hotel on Thursday night when Rock, 52, dropped in and stepped on stage to grab the microphone.
She said the 150 patrons — who had paid $20 a ticket for the regular Thursday night comedy gig — were thrilled when Rock got up to perform.
"The crowd loved it, they were all shocked," she said.
"A few women went a bit hysterical, we had a mothers' group that turned up ... they were a little bit hysterical and screaming.
"I had no staff pretty much, they were all watching him on stage.
"He was hilarious, we were all in tears at the end of the night."
"He was picking on Perth a bit, like why was he here and what a place Perth is."
Fellow performer Luke Bolland tweeted a selfie with Rock after the show, saying the American was "as nice as he is funny".
Rock, one of the world's best-known stand-up comedians, is a veteran of Saturday Night Live and star of several films who has hosted the Oscars twice, most recently in 2016.
He is performing at the Perth Arena tonight with tickets ranging from $95 to $145.
