Coolpad Defiant, the company’s new budget smartphone is finally made official in the US. Priced at $100 (roughly Rs. 6,500). The smartphone will exclusive retail via T-Mobile carrier and there is no word on whether or not it will be launched in the Indian market.
It is said to be the successor to last year’s Coolpad Catalyst smartphone. Looking at the product portfolio of the company, Coolpad Catalyst retailed via T-Mobile as well. The Coolpad Catalyst sports a 5-inch display, a quad-core chipset, 2,200mAh battery and runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box. This year, the company also launched Cool Play 6 mid-ranger smartphone in China with a price tag of CNY 1,499 (roughly Rs. 14,000). Cool Play 6 finds its breaking point with a mammoth 4,060mAh battery on board.
On the other hand, the Coolpad Defiant affordable smartphone comes with a plastic build and not the metal body. The smartphone’s USP is that it runs on Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box. Here’s a closer look at its features.
Coolpad Defiant specifications and features
It has a 5-inch FWVGA display with a screen resolution of 480×854 pixels and is powered by 1.4GHz quad-core processor. The smartphone comes with 1GB of RAM along with 8GB of internal storage which is further expandable up to 32GB via microSD card. The Coolpad Defiant houses a 2,450mAh battery, which the company claims can deliver a talktime of up to 16.5 hours and a standby time of up to 288 hours.
In terms of optics, is has a 5-megapixel primary camera and a 2-megapixel selfie snapped placed at the front. For the connectivity, the Coolpad Defiant offers 4G, VoLTE, LTE, 3.5mm audio jack, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 and GPS. In this price tag, the Coolpad Defiant competes with smartphones such as the Xioami Redmi 4A, Motorola Moto C, Motorola Moto C Plus, and Micromax Evok Power.
