It’s easy to think that Hollywood actors have always had it easy and everything in their life must be perfect.
But Despicable Me 3 co-stars Steve Carrell and Kristen Wiig admitted they both know what it’s like to be sacked.
In their new movies, the actors’ characters Gru and Lucy are fired from their secret agent jobs.
Bridesmaids actor Kristen, 43, said: ‘I was waiting tables once at a sandwich pizza shop near my old high school and I gave some sandwiches away to my friends. Someone told on me.’
Meanwhile, 54-year-old Steve’s pre-acting job only lasted one day.
‘I never got fired per se but I quit before I would have got fired,’ he laughed.
‘It was a job selling wine over the phone. I knew that wasn’t going to work out after a day of no sales.
‘You pretend to go on the phone because you just feel bad, so you’d have a supervisor walking around you and I’d have no one on the line because you just felt guilty trying to sell people wine over the phone so I just was on the line with no one there saying yes, the pinot noir is delightful and you should try it!’
Now the pair says they couldn’t even call what they do these days for a living, work.
Kristen said of their time together in the studio: ‘It is a really fun process, it’s very free in there, it’s not even like work it’s so fun and there is a lot of laughing.
‘Sometimes Steve will move pencils or my stand where my script is is really low and I’m like “Steve has been here”…the prankster.’ Sound lolz.
